The Lord Green of Hurstpierpoint and LIBOR fixing

The Wheatley Report was reported yesterday on Radio 4.  The author is highly critical of the British Bankers Association of which Lord Green was chair from 2006 to 2010.  He was also chair of HSBC during the same period which is also under investigation regarding LIBOR (as reported on the BBC).

So Lord Green was leader of an organisation that permitted, through complicity or stupidity, the manipulation of LIBOR and was chair of a failed bank that we have all bailed out.  And for this level of incompetent action or irresponsible inaction is rewarded by the Coalition.  He is now Minister for State for Trade and Investment.  With his track record I am afraid I would not trust him to buy a Mars bar with my money.  The destruction he has overseen and been responsible for is breathtaking.

I believe that it was a junior Government Minister on Radio 4 after Barclays was fined £290 million for it's part in fixing the LIBOR rate, that said that bankers were "lying cheating thieves".  Very perceptive!

How you sleep at night I do not know, Lord Green?  It was on your watch that this all happened.  For goodness sake do the decent thing.

The organisation is pragmatic and apolitical …which I think is probably a good thing.

Open letter to Mr Clegg MP

So you have apologised for making a promise but not for breaking a promise over Tuition Fees.  And, in your Conference Speech you told us how the Liberal Democrats stood for social justice.  Well Mr Clegg, please explain how putting generations of young people into huge debt is social justice?

The increased indebtedness of our young people will ensure that there is no significant improvement in our Economy by 2015.  In addition, falling graduate numbers will ensure that the average net gain to the Treasury of £227,000* per graduate will not accrue.  A double whammy!

As such after 40 years of voting Liberal or Liberal Democrat I cannot vote for your party again when you undermine all our future so fundamentally.

Beware the Law of Unintended Consequences!

Update on 7 January 2013

So, as reported on BBC Radio 4 there was a 10% fall in University applications in 2011 and a further 6% fall in University applications in 2012.  Maybe Mr. Clegg should explain to us all how reducing future Treasury income is a good thing?

People do not want to be in debt.  Don't they get it?

Musical genres invented for the iDiot

Whoever invented musical genres is an idiot or should that be that genres were invented for iDiot [commonly known as iTunes]?  I can't stand genres. They are so limiting.  All this tribalism is just bullshit.  Some people love metal to the exclusion of everything else.  How narrow minded is that?  Open your ears and let some different sounds stimulate those synapses!

No wonder the World is in such a mess.

It's all music!
